creativity and the spritual path

islamic art and creative event

Nabeela Raza does Arabic calligraphic paintings by using Acrylic paints on canvas. New to the scene of art, she did not receive formal
training in fine arts. Her life long love for drawing led her to
explore Arabic Calligraphy, when she became a student of Haji
Noor. Currently she is involved in organizing an Exhibition in the
Bay Area to foster awareness about Islamic Art through
community participation. She has a Bachelor's Degree in
Mechanical Engineering from Pakistan.

What is the link between your spirituality and your creativity?

The blessing to be able to beautify the language of Quran is from
Allah Subhana Wa Ta’alla. And to use this gift to the best of my
ability is the connection between my spirituality and creativity.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Historical manuscripts to present day rendition of Arabic
Calligraphy are all part of my inspiration. I love the mathematical
precision of Kufic Cube as well as the rhythmic lines of Diwani. I
find inspiration in all styles of Calligraphy.

What will you be hoping to take away from the CSP event?

I am excited to meet artists from different backgrounds and learn
about their artwork. It will be a learning experience for me as
well.
